About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Turf Specialist to take ownership of all turf-related operations across a major landscape maintenance contract within the City of Rockingham. This role will focus on delivering high-quality turf outcomes across parks, reserves, and sportsfields, with a strong emphasis on renovation, fertilisation, and spraying programs.
Working within a coastal environment, you will play a key role in maintaining resilient, high performing turf surfaces under sandy soil conditions and high public use.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver annual turf renovation programs (aeration, coring, topdressing, oversowing)
- Develop and implement fertiliser programs suited to local soil and climate conditions
- Manage herbicide, pesticide, and fungicide applications in line with best practice and regulations
- Monitor turf health, identify issues, and implement corrective actions
- Work closely with the Project Manager and Supervisors to schedule and prioritise works
- Ensure compliance with all WHS, environmental, and chemical handling requirements
- Maintain accurate records of applications, programs, and turf performance
- Assist in irrigation planning and water-wise turf management practices
About You
- Proven experience in turf management (parks, sportsfields, or golf course highly regarded)
- Strong knowledge of turf species suited to WA conditions
- Hands-on experience with:
- Turf renovations
- Fertiliser planning and application
- Chemical spraying (herbicides, pesticides, fungicides)
- Current Chemical Handling Certificate (e.g. ACUP)
- Ability to interpret soil tests and adjust programs accordingly
- Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach
- Good communication skills and ability to work with operational teams
- Current driver’s licence
